LONDON : DP World announced the arrival of the first vessel under a new South America shipping service at London Gateway, enhancing the United Kingdom’s connections.

The new Europe-to-East Coast South America service, operated jointly by COSCO, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) and Ocean Network Express (ONE), will redefine global connections at DP World’s innovative logistics centre.

The new service’s primary British export will be automotive parts for production in South America, with frozen food and building materials such as plywood supplied in the opposite way.

The new service is the latest partnership between DP World and COSCO, which recently announced the lease-upon-completion of a new 11,148 square meters warehouse at London Gateway’s Logistics Park, as well as the lease-upon-completion of a new 11,148 square meters warehouse at London Gateway’s Logistics Park, which is one of the most sustainable buildings of its kind in the UK.

The COSCO-operated Xin Chong Qing was the first ship to arrive at London Gateway as part of the new service, through a rotation from Rotterdam (Netherlands), Hamburg (Germany), Antwerp (Belgium), Lisbon (Portugal), Algeciras (Spain), Santos (Brazil), Paranaguá (Brazil), Montevideo (Uruguay), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Itapoá (Italy), Santos, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and back to Algeciras and Rotterdam.

“This new service shows that London Gateway continues to grow its role at the heart of Britain’s trading future. We have a unique two-port strategy offering customers a choice of deep-water entry and exit points to and from this country, meaning greater flexibility and choice for shipping lines, cargo owners and exporters,” stated Ahsan Agha, port operations director at DP World London Gateway.
