DPT has installed Medical Oxygen Generator at Rambaug Hospital, Gandhidham

GANDHINAGAR : Deendayal Port, the No.1 Major Port of India, under Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Govt. of India, has recently installed Medical Oxygen Generator Unit of 20 cu.m. per hour capacity, with Medical oxygen copper piping network and associated facilities like Firefighting system and Automatic oxygen source changeover system through oxygen cylinder bank, at Port Colony hospital, Gopalpuri, Gandhidham (Kutch), to cater the treatment of patients at Hospital, which was Inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways on 02.06.2021 through VC system.

Under the encouragement of Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Mansukh Mandaviyaji, Deendayal Port was the first port amongst all major ports to install & commission such oxygen generation unit in the pandemic scenario, and, following steps have been taken recently, for combating Covid-19 by Deendayal Port Trust, as follows:
Covid Care Center has been made functional w.e.f. 14.04.2021 at DPT Hospital, Gopalpuri, to cater 50 Covid patients, which is being managed by the existing Medical Officers & staffs. OPD Consultation & Counselling is also being done.
07 nos. Medical Officers (MBBS) have been engaged on contract basis to ensure availability of adequate number of medical officers round the clock.
200 Jumbo cylinders and 03 nos. Ventilators have been procured to facilitate treatment.
Vaccination against Covid is being provided at DPT hospital, not only to DPT beneficiaries but also to the general public.
Testing of Covid-19 through Rapid Antigen Test is being done at DPT hospital.
Ration kits were provided to the needy during the lockdown.
Action have been initiated for creating ICU/ PICU as a step towards preparedness in anticipation of third wave of Covid-19, if arrives.

In a way further as a social responsibility under the determined leadership of Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Mansukh Mandaviyaji, Deendayal Port has now installed Medical Oxygen Generator Unit, with Medical oxygen copper piping network, at State Govt. hospital, Rambaug, Gandhidham (Kutch) at the total cost of approx. Rs. 50 lakhs, to cater the treatment of patients at the hospital.

The installed oxygen generator unit at Govt. hospital, Rambaug, Gandhidham, is of having capacity 20 cu.m./ hr., i.e., 20,000 liters/hr. @ 5-6 bar pressure, which is equivalent to approx. 03 nos. Jumbo cylinders per hour, which can be utilized for treatment of COVID as well as other patients in the locality. The system will eliminate the hardship of frequent refilling the cylinders for treatment of patients which is very cumbersome process, and will ensure smooth and continuous oxygen supply to the hospital. The Oxygen Unit generates oxygen gas by the continuous process of pressure swing adsorption methods through imported Molecular oxygen sieves in pressurized state in the unit and finally delivers oxygen of minimum 93% purity. The Medical oxygen copper piping network is installed for distribution of medical oxygen gas connects to each bed oxygen-fitting of the Male & Female wards and also ICU ward in the hospital. The network pipeline consists of heavy copper seamless pipes of various sizes to assure uniform oxygen pressure distribution throughout the network with oxygen regulators, flow meter and control valves to 54 bed-points of the wards in the hospital. The pipeline network is equipped with Low oxygen pressure alarm system to alert the hospital well-before any undue oxygen supply malfunction, leakage etc.
