Gujarat Chief Minister’s inspiring presence at the closing ceremony of the Global Maritime India Summit 2023 in Mumbai

MUMBAI : During the conclusion of the Global Maritime India Summit 2023, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that this summit has unveiled the vast potential of the maritime sector, through collective deliberations of global industry leaders, policymakers, and experts.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the maritime sector has emerged as a crucial contributor to India’s economic strength on the global stage, successfully advancing in the fields of economic advancement and infrastructural development, he added.

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel addressed the concluding session of the Third Global Maritime India Summit 2023, organized in Mumbai under the initiative of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways of Government of India.

Government of India Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister of State Shri Shripad Naik, Shri Shantanu Thakur, Dr. Mahendra Manjpara, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and senior secretaries of Ports Department, Government of India, were present.

Gujarat CM Shri Bhupendra Patel conveyed that Gujarat is fully committed to realizing ‘Amrit Kaal Vision-2047’ as envisioned by the Prime Minister, which aims to achieve a sustainable and prosperous blue economy.

Chief Minister continued that Gujarat is fully prepared to create an encouraging environment for investment and innovation in the maritime sector to achieve sustainable growth.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, inspired by the Prime Minister, urged global shipping industry leaders to establish their businesses in GIFT City, Gujarat, and avail the incentives provided for ship leasing services in the state.

He also extended invitations to leaders of the shipping and maritime sector to join the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit scheduled for January 2024.

Gujarat Chief Minister emphasized that this summit not only showcases the potential of Gujarat’s maritime sector but also presents it on a global platform. The state’s 1,600 kilometre coastline contributes 39% to the cargo handling in the country through its one major and 48 non-major ports.

Not only that, but Gujarat also leads in the Logistics Index, and due to the Alang Ship Breaking Facility, the state ranks in second position globally in ship recycling.

He also highlighted the grand historical significance of the ancient port of Lothal in Gujarat, presenting the special features of the “National Maritime Heritage Complex.” He presented these details before all the participants at the summit.

Gujarat Maritime Board Chairman S.S. Rathore and Vice Chairman & MD Shri Rajkumar Beniwal also joined this summit.
