National Shipping Board Chairman reviews Infrastructure and Growth Plans during visit to Kamarajar Port

CHENNAI: Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) welcomed Shri Sameer Kumar Khare, IAS (Retd.), Hon’ble Chairman of the National Shipping Board, for an official visit that underscored the Port’s strategic role in advancing India’s maritime sector and strengthening the nation’s vision of port-led economic growth.

The distinguished visitor was received by Shri Sachin Sharad Chandra Kurve, IAS, Chairman, Chennai Port Authority and Chairperson, Kamarajar Port Limited, along with Smt. J.P. Irene Cynthia, IAS, Managing Director, Kamarajar Port Limited. The visit commenced with a detailed presentation highlighting KPL’s operational excellence, modern infrastructure, key performance milestones, ongoing development projects, and future expansion roadmap. The discussions focused on the Port’s continued efforts to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and capacity to meet the evolving needs of global trade.

As part of the visit, Shri Khare toured KPL’s major operational facilities, including the Container Terminal, General Cargo Berths (GCBs), and the Signal Station, gaining firsthand insight into the Port’s advanced infrastructure and seamless cargo-handling capabilities. A tug ride further showcased the Port’s marine operations, emphasizing its strong commitment to navigational safety, operational excellence, and the adoption of modern technologies that support efficient vessel movements and maritime services.
