KOCHI : In a significant step towards strengthening domestic containerised rail logistics, CONCOR–Vallarpadam (VPDP) has commenced a new domestic rail traffic stream, with a full rake of 90 x 20-foot domestic containers carrying Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) consignments dispatched from Vallarpadam to Fatuha (FCON), Bihar.
The successful movement marks an important milestone in expanding domestic containerised rail services from Vallarpadam, further strengthening its role as a strategic gateway for the movement of cargo to markets across India.
The rake movement was successfully facilitated in coordination with the Trivandrum Division of Southern Railway, highlighting the importance of effective collaboration between railways and logistics stakeholders in enabling seamless and efficient freight movement.
The commencement of this new traffic stream is expected to enhance the connectivity of domestic cargo from Kerala to northern and eastern markets, while providing customers with a reliable, efficient and integrated rail-based logistics solution.
The initiative also reinforces the growing role of containerised rail transportation in supporting India’s multimodal logistics ecosystem, improving supply-chain efficiency and facilitating seamless movement of goods across regions.
With the expansion of domestic rail traffic from Vallarpadam, CONCOR continues to strengthen its network and support the Government’s vision of efficient, sustainable and cost-effective freight transportation.
