SMP Kolkata inks 21 MoUs in Rs 36,000 Crore deal at GMIS 2023

MUMBAI : Paving the way for port-driven industrialization, Syama Prasad Mookherjee Port, Kolkata has signed historic Rs 36,000 Crore deal with several companies at the third edition of the Global Maritime India Summit 2023, which was held in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Mr. Rathendra Raman, Chairperson of SMP, Kolkata, inked 21 memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with various stakeholders at the summit.

The stakeholders are various government agencies and private partners in areas like port connectivity, capacity augmentation, and green energy projects as part of Vision 2047. The MoUs include cooperation with NTPC for green energy and ammonia and cooperation with GRSE for the supply of green marine vessels. The first PPP project of the Kolkata Dock System at SMP – Rejuvenation of KPD – Dock 1 (West) – was also inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the event.

“The PPP project of Kolkata Dock System, with an investment of Rs 181 crore, will augment the port capacity by an additional 4.5 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) and will also involve complete mechanization of six berths,” said SMP spokesperson.
