MUMBAI : Directorate General of Shipping celebrated ‘World Maritime Day 2025, ‘the celebrations commenced with a Guard of Honour by the cadets of The Shipping Corporation of India, Maritime Training Institute (MTI), Powai for Shri Sameer Kumar Khare, IAS (Retd.), Chairperson, National Shipping Board, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The cadets showcased discipline, precision, and pride, reflecting the dedication and spirit of India’s maritime workforce. This ceremonial welcome set a dignified tone for the day as we gathered to honour our oceans, our obligations, and our opportunities.
The celebrations began with the Lighting of the Lamp by the dignitaries, including Shri Sameer Kumar Khare, IAS (Retd.), Chairperson, National Shipping Board, and Shri Sushil Mansing Khopade, Additional Director General of Shipping & Chairman, NMDC (Central) Committee. This ceremonial act marked the official inauguration of World Maritime Day 2025, symbolizing knowledge, positivity, and the collective commitment of India’s maritime community towards our oceans, obligations, and opportunities.
