Vibrant Gujarat Roadshow receives overwhelming response in Japan

TOKYO : The Vibrant Gujarat Roadshow in Tokyo was held at The Indian Embassy in India Tokyo, Japan on the 16^th October 2023. The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening Indo-Japan Ties. With the participation of 120 high-profile delegates spanning various sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, renewable energy, and more, the event demonstrated the immense potential of collaboration between Gujarat and Japan.  

The Vibrant Gujarat Roadshow in Japan served as a dynamic platform for dialogue, fostering deeper connections between the two nations. The participation of diverse delegations from various sectors exemplified the shared commitment to explore avenues of cooperation, innovation, and investment between Gujarat and Japan.  

The event witnessed an inspiring keynote address by the Ambassador of India to Japan, H.E.Mr. Sibi George, who eloquently underscored the pivotal role of Japan in Gujarat’s growth story and emphasized the significance of further deepening the bilateral relations.

A pivotal moment of the session was when Vijay Nehra, addressing the gathering, compiled a detailed presentation emphasising the monumental strides in infrastructure and social infrastructure development in Gujarat, positioning the state as a frontrunner in India’s economic landscape. Nehra highlighted the vast investable opportunities in Gujarat, showcasing its vibrant ecosystem for businesses. The presentation also delved into opportunities within Gujarat and two rapidly emerging economic hubs –Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and Dholera Industrial City.  

The event’s resounding success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Government of Gujarat, the Embassy of India in Japan, JETRO. In 2009, Japan became the first partner country for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and it has been a partner ever since. JETRO also joined as a partner organisation in 2009 and had played an instrumental role in promoting Japanese manufacturers to explore business opportunities and invest in Gujarat ever since.

The roadshow was then followed by One-to-One Meetings with 16 potential investors who expressed a keen interest in expanding their operations in Gujarat. These meetings provided a unique opportunity for senior management representatives of renowned organizations such as Sharp, Nikon, Marubeni, Mitsui, Dai Chi Life Holdings, and Suzuki to engage in constructive discussions about potential collaborations and investments with theGovernment of Gujarat.

Additionally, Nehra held discussions with the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) and the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) organization to explore potential partnerships with the Government of Gujarat in organizing the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat 2024.   About Vibrant Gujarat; Vibrant Gujarat is a biennial global business summit to be held in the state of Gujarat from 10^th – 12^th January 2024.
